Beginning Horsemanship, Ages 4-6
The Strideaway Farms Riding Academy balances the highest quality riding instruction with values of good horsemanship. Learning to take care of both horse and tack teaches valuable life lessons that can relate to a student’s entire life. All students are evaluated by one of our senior instructors and placed in an appropriate riding program that fits their ability.
Young Riders, Ages 8 & Under
While our beginning horsemanship classes focus on students interactions with a pony, our young riders program teaches the basics of hunt seat equitation. Students learn how to jump by negotiating small courses of poles and cross rails. Our classes acclimate students to horse behavior by teaching the basics of proper horse grooming and care. They are taught individually and include time being taught on the lunge line as well as closely supervised riding time in a larger ring.
Intermediate Lessons, All Ages
Intermediate lessons are designed to offer more advanced students instruction in jumping techniques. Lessons cover changes of lead, gauging distances to jumps and balanced riding through turns. Students progress to jumping courses of verticals and oxers up to 2’6”.
Advanced, All Ages
Advanced lessons are for students that own or lease a horse. While these lessons are not necessarily discipline specific (i.e. Hunters, Jumpers or Equitation) they are tailored to the goals of individual students. Advanced are a main learning component for students wishing to compete with our Show Program.
